Bette Midler: The Onstage Decade
Retrospective Short Film

I put this film together ages ago.  I really need to remake it one of these days.  I had always wanted to create a retrospective film on Bette's early career, with photos and footage mixed together.  This is what I ended up with.  I was very passionate when making this video, but my resources were quite limited at the time.  A lot of people from Bette's early career have seen this film though, and have said very wonderful things about it - most especially that it captured the time beautifully.  For that I'm proud.

Turning 60 Miss M Style
Fan Tribute Video

I thought it would be nice if all the fans came together to wish Bette a happy 60th birthday.  So Don – from Bootleg Betty – and I went to the task of gathering as many fans as we could, from all over the world, to partake in this project.  With Don's wonderful music, the great greetings fans sent in, and the visuals that I provided, I think it came out really well.

I was inspired to piece this film together based on a few suggestions from friends.  I realized I had tons of footage of Bette performing this classic song, so I decided I'd cut it all together to form one consistent performance.  This is another film that needs updating one of these days, since there were some gaps that I had no footage to fill in with at the time.  But all in all I'm quite happy with my editing, and think it's a fun little video to watch.

Stuff Like That There
Music Video

I had always wanted to piece this song together so that it never cut backstage to Eddie watching - which I feel takes you away from the actual performance - and also to never have the power go out during the middle of the song.  To do this I reused a lot footage but flipped it so it wouldn't appear as repetitious during the missing sections, and I also used a lot of insert shots of the crowed to fill in little gaps here and there.  All in all I think it turned out pretty well.

The Wind Beneath My Wings
Live Music Video

Ugh.  I try to avoid this particular song as much as I can, since I’m not a very big fan of it and would die happy if I never had to hear it again.  However, my very dear friend Jonathan repeatedly asked me to create a video for him to his favorite Bette Midler song - poor thing - and since he’s such a sweet lad, and English - whom I adore - I caved in and decided to give it a shot.  Jonathan loved it, so I guess I did an okay job with it.

In My Life
Music Video

I made this film a good few years ago.  I had an acapella version of this song and thought about creating my own music video using the performance footage in Vietnam along with various other clips from the film.  I kept Bette's performance in black and white to try and represent her looking back over her life and reliving those memories as she sang the song, then finding herself in the present as it finished, with the colour fading back in.  I was young and stupid, what did I know . . .

I Put A Spell On You
Music Video

What can I really say about this one.  It was an idea I had thought about doing for a very long time . . . so  . . . I finally decided to just do it.  Originally I made it to help promote a new Bette club at the time, but now it's just a fun little film to watch and enjoy.  Don't expect anything too spectacular.
