BOB
SCOTT grew up in Brooklyn, NY in "the
fifties" and became fascinated with B&W television, comic
books and Hollywood fan magazines! In his teen years, he rode
the subway into "The City" to hang out at stage doors of
Broadway plays, the Ed Sullivan Show, and Johnny Carson's
"Tonight Show". He "snapped" the celebrities with
his funny little Kodak Instamatic camera with rotating flash-cube,
working his way through college by selling his own
"paparazzi" pics to movie magazines, People & Newsweek,
and local newspapers.
At the time, Bette Midler was creating a
"buzz" in New York City, and Bob became an
outrageously-devoted fan, determined to follow her career, and
chronicle her rise to stardom every step of the way. He was
there for the early concerts, the Tony Awards, & The Palace. When
tickets went on sale at
the Minskoff Theater for "Clams on the Half-Shell Revue", he
camped out overnight with the other hardcore fans, and obtained FRONT
ROW seats for a dozen shows!! To add to his excitement, when he
attended opening night, he was surprised to see HIS photo was
the centerfold in the souvenir program!
In 1976, BOB moved to Los Angeles, where he worked
as a credentialed news-media photographer. This gained him access to
the filming of the legendary concert sequences for "THE
ROSE", as well as Bette's "Ol' Red Hair" TV special,
the Hollywood Bowl & the Golden Globes, Academy Awards, and Grammy's.
He is still an active press photographer,
and recently moved to Palm Springs to enjoy the relaxing life-style.

written over the years on Bette. Some of these include:

Several shots of Bette during her Intimate Evening Tour and The Rose
concert filming were included in this revised edition, along with both the
front and back cover shots of the book.

The majority of photos featured in this book were shot and contributed by
Bob, and feature an impressive pictorial tribute of Bette through her

in the mid 70's, all the way through to the filming of
The Rose and Ol' Red Hair Is Back and her Intimate Evening
and Divine Madness tours. This book is a must for any fan
that wishes to see the vastness of Bob's work and talent.
Outrageously Divine: Mark Bego - 1987
